BREADSTICKS

Everyone loves these! They are perfect with any meal and/or soup. I have had a couple people ask me for this recipe lately, so I thought I would post it.

Breasticks

3 cups warm water
1 heaping Tablespoon yeast
2 T. sugar
1 T. salt
3 T. olive oil
7 1/2 (approx.) cups flour
1 cup butter, divided
1/2 tsp. fresh minced garlic (I use it out of the jar)
1 cup ground parmesan cheese
Sprinkle graciously with Salad Supreme

Put yeast, water and sugar in mixing bowl and stir until mixed together. Add salt, oil and flour. Knead for 5-10 minutes in mixer with a dough hook. In another large bowl pour some olive oil in the bottom and put kneaded ball of dough in the olive oil and then flip over so that the oil gets on all sides. Roll around the dough to get oil on the sides of the bowl which prevents it from sticking as it rises. Put plastic wrap on bowl. Make sure air can get into the bread because it needs air to rise. Raise one hour. (Can skip this step if in a hurry.)

Melt 1/2 cup of butter in the microwave and add 1/2 teaspoon garlic and mix together. Pour butter out onto large jelly roll pan and spread it all around. Take dough out of bowl and roll it out to the shape and close to the size of the jelly roll pan (it will grow so no worries if it is small). Place dough on butter and garlic mixture in pan, flip dough over so both sides are buttered. With pizza cutter cut dough down the center lengthwise and then 10-12 cuts the other way making two rows of 10-12 breadsticks. (this makes large breadsticks, so if I want more breadsticks that are smaller, I cut two rows lengthwise and make just 9-10 going the other way, which makes short and fatter breadsticks.)

Coat generously with parmesan cheese and salad supreme. Spray cooking oil on plastic wrap and lay over breadsticks. Raise 1-1 1/2 hours. Bake 350 for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle 1/4-1/2 cup melted butter over breadsticks when they come out of oven or just before serving.

(I know it is a lot of directions, but I have been making them for years and wanted to share all my quick tips!)
